A man has been arrested after allegedly confining a woman in his car for hours.

The man, 36, met the woman victim online through a dating website. The two had met previously, but during the most recent meeting on Aug. 12, the man allegedly locked the woman in the vehicle and drove her around for several hours before letting her go.

The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and the man remains in custody. He faces potential charges of forcible confinement, assault and uttering threats.

"The ongoing police investigation followed several leads as investigators worked tirelessly to positively identify, locate and arrest their suspect," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey.

"On Aug. 18 at 10:28 am, with the assistance of Southeast District RCMP Air Services' fixed wing aircraft, the man was arrested without incident when police located him in his vehicle in Peachland," added O'Donaghey.

Investigators said the man was driving a silver 2000 Dodge Durango with Alberta licence plates. They also believe the pair travelled in the Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna and Lake Country areas during the alleged incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious involving a vehicle with this description is asked to call Denise Bendfeld with the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
