It’s time to roll up your sleeves and give blood in Kelowna, or at least Canadian Blood Service is asking you to.
There’s an immediate need for more than 30,000 units of blood and all blood types are needed.
“We’ve recorded fewer blood donations again this summer and we are urging people to join the community of selfless Canadians who give life by donating blood. Our immediate need is for 32,000 units by Labour Day,” says David Patterson, director of donor relations in the B.C. and Yukon region.
If you’re in Kelowna and you’re looking to donate some of your blood, you can visit the Kelowna Blood Donor Clinic. It’s located at 103-1865 Dilworth Dr. and it’s open holiday Monday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The clinic is also open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and alternating Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
In 2016, the service says they will need 100,000 new blood donors to replace the ageing donor base and maintain the national supply.
