Drugs have reportedly claimed the life of a young man who died after attending an event in Kelowna over the weekend.

According to Interior Health, five people overdosed at the event.

The substance involved was reported to be cocaine that may have contained fentanyl, but the toxicology report has not come back yet.

The four others who came in have all recovered.

Because of the tragedy, Interior Health is reminding people not to mix drugs, to pace yourself, not to do drugs alone and to carry a naloxone kit in case of an overdose.

If someone has overdosed, they will likely be breathing slowly or not at all, gurgling or gasping, their lips and fingertips will turn blue and they may not be responsive.

If you witness an overdose, call 911.

In respect for the family, KelownaNow will not be publishing the photo or name of the man who died at this time.
