Yendley took home the silver for her second-place finish in the double-mini trampoline event for 13-14-year olds. She also finished in eighth place on the trampoline event.

Emily Welsh, who also competed for Canada, finished eighth in the double mini trampoline and 15th on trampoline.
The two competed together in synchronized trampoline, finishing seventh.

Yendley and Welsh joined 22 other Canadian trampoline and tumbling athletes at the competition, which saw a total of 184 athletes from South Africa, Australia, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand compete.

Two young Kelowna athletes are headed to New Zealand later this month to represent Canada at the Indo Pacific Championships.

Trampolinists Emily Welsh and Jordyn Yendley qualified for the competition based on their performances at this year’s Canada Cup and Canadian Championships.

At the Canadian Championships, Yendely earned double gold on the double mini trampoline and individual trampoline, while Welsh finished second on double mini trampoline and sixth on individual trampoline.

At the Canada Cup, Yendley finished in second place in the individual trampoline event, third on double mini and won the gold with Welsh in the synchronized trampoline event. Welsh finished fifth in trampoline and sixth in the double mini trampoline, along with her and Yendley's first place finish.

Those stellar combined results qualified both athletes for the Indo Pacific Championships, which are held once every two years.

“They are dedicated and hard workers and we look forward to them representing Canada in New Zealand,” coach Jamie Gardner said of the young athletes.

At the Indo Pacific Championships in Napier, New Zealand, Yendley will compete in the 13 to 14-year-old category, while Welsh will test her skills in the 15 to 16-year-old category, for trampoline, synchronized trampoline and double mini trampoline.

According to Heather Ivanitz of the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre, the pair will leave for New Zealand on Oct. 16, and spend about a week in Napier competing.
