With Kelowna’s Gratitude Project in full swing, you’re probably wondering what the best books are to read when it comes to positivity.

Great questions! We have the answer for you.

Gratitude means different things for different people. Sometimes it’s solely about yourself, and finding gratitude within, and sometimes it’s a greater feeling that is bigger than yourself.

Here are 10 books you should read if you’re interesting in becoming more grateful.

  1. Big Magic

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert is number one on our list. Not only is it a beautiful cover but it’s a celebration of creativity. Gilbert shares stories from her own life, as well as her friends and those who have inspired her, to help us embrace our curiosity and tackle what we fear most to create the most joyful life possible.

  1. The Happiness Project

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin is an international bestseller and for good reason. The book talks about Gretchen’s life and how every month she pursued a different set of resolutions. Some included going to sleep earlier, tackling a nagging task, bringing people together and spending the time to be silly.

The book helps remind people of the amazing things in life to be grateful for.

  1. The Book of Awesome

The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha is another must-read book. Every page features an everyday awesome thing that people tend to not pay attention to. Do you know how awesome it is to hear the ice clinking when cold water is poured into the glass? So awesome!

What about when you arrive at the bus stop just when the bus is coming around the corner? That’s so awesome!

The book showcases 14,001 things to be happy about.

  1. Infinite Possibilities

Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley is about creating the life you dream about. Dooley believes we create our own reality, fate and luck. So, if you want a life full of gratitude, why not think grateful thoughts? If you read this book, you will probably laugh, applaud and be inspired to become more grateful.

  1. Happy is the New Healthy

Happy is the New Healthy by Dave Romanelli is a book that features little ways to show more gratitude. Inside the yellow novel, you’ll find 21 ways to relax, let go and enjoy life right now.

Sounds wonderful!

  1. Did I ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?

This Dr. Seuss book is by far one of the best books on this list. The irrepressible optimism is front and centre in this book. It’s not only a great read for kids but as adults, we could surely do no harm in rereading this storybook from time to time.

  1. Kiss That Frog!

Kiss That Frog! By Brian Tracy gives you 12 ways to turn negatives into positive in your life and work.

One thing we know for sure is that life can be an uphill battle sometimes full of negative situations. Why not read this book to discover how to positively change your life?

  1. Enchanted Forest

Yes, we have included a colouring book in our top 10 list. It only makes sense! Colouring is a peaceful activity to do when you need to clear your head. Focus on colouring inside (or outside) the lines, instead of focusing on reality. This number one New York Times bestseller is the perfect book to sit with on a chilly autumn evening with your cup of tea.

  1. Instant Happy Journal

It’s time to brighten your life with this colourful journal. Inside you will find 365 “happiness prompters” including quotes, scientific studies and thought-provoking questions. Read through these pages and watch your gratitude levels rocket.

  1. 365 Thank Yous

Last but not least is 365 Thank Yous. Saying thank you is a way to show gratitude, but can you say thank you every single day of the year? This book by John Kralik is all about spending one-year doing simple acts of daily gratitude to change your life.

We hope you write these book recommendations down and pick some of these goodies up next time you’re at the book store.
