The South East Kelowna Irrigation District has issued a boil water notice.

The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

The boil water notice stems from a ruptured main that overwhelmed the chlorine system at the district intake. The break has been isolated and the chlorine system will be reactivated shortly.

The district is recommending the public boil tap water used for drinking, brushing teeth and rinsing food be brought to a rolling boil for one minute.
