Kelowna RCMP can confirm that the person of interest, previously reported as attending Central Okanagan schools on Oct 20, has been positively identified by investigators after he came forward to speak with police.

“RCMP strongly believe that any potential risk has been reduced, even eliminated thanks to the conversation police were able to have with the man,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The discussion has provided us with clarity into the teen’s intentions, which has satisfied investigators that they were not criminal in nature.”

The police investigation has now been concluded as no criminal offence had believed to have been committed.

Kelowna RCMP wish to thank the media and the general public for their assistance.
