Zipcar car-sharing service offering discounted rentals in response to transit strike

Car-sharing company Zipcar is now offering discounted service for its Kelowna fleet in response to the transit strike.

Zipcar members in the Kelowna can reserve any one of their three vehicles in the area at a discounted hourly rate.

Cars that are typically $10.75 an hour are now $5 and cars that are usually $12.75 an hour are now $10.75.

Their fleet includes a winter ready Volkswagen Jetta, a winter ready Hyundai Santa Fe and a Hyundai Elantra with bike racks.

"We are excited to offer discounted cars in the Kelowna area to serve folks who have been impacted by the transit strike,” said Communications Manager Kate Binette.

There is an application process to become a member that can be started online.

Once you are a member you can go on zipcar.com or use their app to see what vehicles are in the area and reserve one.
