Christmas is creeping up and some people on your list may be tougher to buy for than others.
Looking for gifts for teenagers, for one, might leave you a little overwhelmed.
You may be completely stumped on what to get them, but youth in the 15-17 age range are the hardest to find presents for out of the Kelowna Santas’ donation bin year after year.
If you're thinking of donating to the initiative for local families, consider buying a teen gift. While it may be tempting to buy something for a toddler (hey, what don’t they like?), try to go a bit outside of your comfort zone when making donations this holiday season.
Because of this age-old puzzle of buying for teens, we’ve put together a trusty gift guide to help you find something special at a reasonable price.
Headphones
Headphones and earbuds range in price from $10 to $200, depending on how much you want to spend. We found these on Amazon for $25.
Speaker
Portable speakers are perfect for everywhere from the beach to the shower. These ones are waterproof and only $20.
Curling iron
Hair-styling tools are always a good idea for teenage girls. Go for a curling iron or straightener. This 1.5 inch barrel wand is $30 at London Drugs.
Amazon fire TV stick
Teens can use this $40 device to stream movies and shows from some of the top media companies. Ready to be their hero?
Funny t-shirt
Floaty
It may be winter but it won't last long. Get them a floaty for the lake shaped like a donut or a piece of pizza (like
this one for $15 on Amazon).
Purse
Who doesn't love a good accessory? This purse is on sale for $30 at Aldo, but look around, something is bound to catch your eye.
Board Games
Especially around the holiday season, board games are a blast. Check out Monopoly, Risk and The Game of Things (which is at Walmart for $25). If you have a little more to spend, look for Settlers of Catan.
Toque or scarf
Beenies and scarves are great for both girls and guys. Who doesn't like to be warm? We found this one on Urban Outfitters for $18, but there are plenty of local stores with a good selection!
Giftcards
Giftcards can still be a thoughtful gift, and sometimes teens are happier with them than anything else. Some suggestions we have are iTunes, Steam, Best Buy and Winners, so your gift recipient can pick something they are bound to love and you can decide on the denomination.
Experiences
Another great gift is the gift of an experience. Buy movie tickets, a gift card to a good restaurant, tickets to an upcoming concert or
passes to an escape room. It's fun and you don't have to know their size whatsoever.
While you're out shopping for your teenagers, we'd love it if you'd consider picking something up for Kelowna Santas. Kelowna Santas is a community lead initiative that gives gifts to children in need on Christmas morning. If you'd like to learn more, check out
the website where you can view gift drop locations and volunteer initiatives.
