As the calendars turn over to mark the beginning of 2017, Kelowna will be plunged into another cold snap.
Environment Canada is predicting a week of well-below 0°C temperatures to kick off January, with the mercury dipping as low as -15°C by the middle of the week.
The chill has already begun to set in today, with Environment Canada predicting a high of just -2°C and a low of -6°C overnight. Those temperatures will be complemented by clouds, 20 km/hr winds and snow overnight.
January 1 will kick off with more wind and snow, with temperatures maxing out a -6°C, dropping to -11°C overnight.
Monday will see temperatures stay at much the same level, with the sky clearing somewhat.
The sun and clear skies will persist through until Thursday, but temperatures will only drop further: From Jan. 3-4 Environment Canada says it won’t get any warmer than -10°C.
Clouds will return partly on Thursday, and by Friday the sky will be a wall of grey once again. Just like the rest of the week, temperatures will remain well below the freezing mark.
