Is Kelowna on the cusp of a film-industry boom? Thanks to a new studio development, it just may be.

Eagle Creek Studio, purchased a Kelowna property in 2016 with plans to open a full service film studio in the city in 2017.

The company, based in Burnaby, is currently in full production with the Amazon TV Series, The Man from High Castle, which is in its third season and has won two Primetime Emmys.

“This is size and caliber of productions we will be able to bring to Kelowna and the Okanagan with this studio complex,” said Okanagan Film Commissioner Jon Summerland. “This kind of facility will create the infrastructure we need here to bring in the big productions and TV series and base them here.

Summerland expects the facility to create new businesses like prop shops, hair and make-up departments, and more, to support the growing industry in the area.
