The Canadian Culinary Championships got going in Kelowna for the seventh year in a row on Thursday night with a closed door event at the Laurel Packing House.
Competing chefs were introduced to the judges and given a mystery wine, that they will have to prepare a dish to pair with it, while attendees mingled and enjoyed delicious bite-sized hor d'oeuvres catered by local establishments, including Okanagan College's culinary students.
The weekend-long event will put 11 of Canada’s top chefs through rigorous competitions from mystery ingredients and wine pairings to tackling the challenges of budgeting and preparing food for hundreds of people. All in hopes of taking home the title of Champion.
Tickets for the Friday, February 3rd event are still available through the Canadian Culinary Championship Website, but the grand finale is sold out.
