Canoe Coffee Roasters opened up their first permanent location on Monday.

The popular portable coffee shop opened the doors on their first retail location, located at 1176 High Rd.

“It’s been surprisingly busy, like we opened up at 7 a.m. and it’s been pretty much like this all day,” said owner David Upshaw, referring to the 15-20 patrons in the store. “So as busy as a farmer’s market day, which is awesome.”

The space is more of a lounge area for the trailer, which will be parked out front of the new location from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

On Wednesdays and Sundays the trailer will still be parked at the farmers market.

While it’s a big step for the local company, it sounds like there’s still plenty to come in the near future for Canoe Coffee Roasters.

“We have some stuff coming up with Okanagan Lifestyle that’s kind of a secret thing right now, but it’s coming up soon,” Upshaw said when asked what’s up next for Canoe Coffee Roasters.

Other than that, Upshaw says their priority remains spreading coffee around Kelowna and the Okanagan, as well as focusing on their new space.

We checked out the space for ourselves and there’s no doubt it will quickly become a popular hangout.
