After a number of false alarms, it looks like spring is finally here.

One of the sure signs of spring is when Knox Mountain Drive opens up for traffic after being closed for the winter.

That move will happen on Tuesday, with the gates to the first lookout set to open at 9:30 a.m.

The top half of the mountain road, however, is still at least two weeks away from opening to vehicles.

Knox Mountain Drive will be open to vehicles from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

The mountain in itself is open daily from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Portions of the Apex Trail, between the first lookout and the peak, are currently closed for maintenance, but that work will be wrapped up by the end of March.

For the safety of all park users and wildlife, dog owners are reminded that dogs must be on-leash when in the park.

Owners are reminded to bring bags to pick up after their dogs and to properly dispose of the waste in a garbage bin.

Residents are also reminded that smoking is prohibited in all City park
