A company in Kelowna, Capri Insurance, is being recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada.

Capri Insurance ranked the 38th out of the 100 best places to work in Canada.

“Being recognized by Great Place to Work as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces is a reflection of the exceptional team we have here at Capri Insurance," said Tim Miller, president of Capri Insurance. "Each and every one of our team members play a role in contributing to our vibrant and collaborative culture.”

The top five companies on the list are Vega, 360insights, Habanero, FreshBooks, and flipp.

The criteria for making the list is based on confidential employee surveys and a review of the organization's culture and HR practices. They look at credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

This year, more than 400 companies registered for the list and more than 60,000 employees participated in the survey.

The Great Place to Work Institute Canada also produced a report showing the top five trends which predict the quality of a workplace. It included the following trends:

A less top-heavy management practice, nurturing an intrapreneurial spirit, providing a great place to work for all and providing a deeper sense of purpose as well as developing advanced analytics.

Essentially, the top companies provided a sense of ownership to their employees, by providing roles where employees can develop their strengths, as well as making room for development in other areas.

This is seventh time Capri Insurance has made the list. The company employs about 400 people and offers programs to employees like Employee Share Ownership Plan, Wellness Benefit, Community Involvement and Bright Ideas.

"We’re incredibly proud to be included among the best workplaces in Canada," said Miller.

The list appears in the Globe and Mail on Thursday, April 27th.

This year, the Kelowna-based Capri Insurance merged with Vancouver-based CMW Insurance. The company has 13 offices in B.C. and serves more than 100,000 clients.
