On Saturday, May 6th, the City of West Kelowna, City of Kelowna and the Central Okanagan Regional District declared a state of emergency.

KelownaNow went up with Ikon helicopters to survey some of the areas effected by the floods.

Heavy sediments carried by the various creeks are evident from the brown, murky colourings in the usually pristine, blue Okanagan Lake.

Being able to get up high made for some stunning aerial shots and video of the Okanagan, as well as clearly shows the areas heavily affected by the floods.

Text has been added to name the locations as well as to keep us from talking over top and interfering with the video.

Here's what we saw.

More aerial photos (160 photos) are available at our Facebook Gallery.
