Kelowna RCMP help with stabbing investigation in Golden

Two police officers from the RCMP Southeast District General Investigation Section, which is based out of Kelowna, are helping Golden-Field RCMP with an ongoing investigation. 

The Golden-Field RCMP are investigating a reported stabbing that occurred on May 8th at a local motel on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Police responded to the complaint after 9:00 p.m., where a female had allegedly been stabbed during an altercation. The victim was a 46 year-old female from Golden and sustained non-life threatening injuries. The victim was released from hospital later that evening.

One suspect has been identified as a 39-year-old from Calgary and was arrested by police in Calgary on May 9th.

"At this time we believe this was a targeted incident, in which the two parties involved were known to each other," says Constable Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. There were never any concerns relating to public safety.

Police are still looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
