The latest radio rating numbers for Kelowna's 12-plus demographic have been released by Numeris, with talk radio and country music ruling the city's airwaves.

Within the central market area, the estimated total hours that listeners tuned into each station is expressed as a percentage of total hours tuned to all radio.

CBC Radio topped the charts again with a 19.3% share.

So for example, if Kelowna listened to 100 total hours of radio, listeners spent 19.3 hours tuned to CBC Radio.

That's the percentage of total hours tuned to all radio stations over a one-week period.

For people tuning in for at least 15 minutes of listening, CBC also had the largest reach among Kelowna residents.

Canada's national broadcaster grew its share from 18.8% in the spring 2015 book, and 16.2% in 2016.

For those not listening to talk radio, New Country 100.7 proved most popular.

Kelowna's country station grabbed a 13.9% market share with an overall reach of 30,800.

Rock station Power 104 came third in market share at 10.1%, but only fifth in reach, with a total of 22,600 unique listeners.

The top five for listeners was rounded out by Sun FM (9.1%) and K96.3 (9%).

Sun FM also had the second-largest reach among the nine stations, with 32,400 people sampling the station over a one-week period.

EZ-Rock (8.2%), AM1150 (6.7%), The Juice (6.4%) and Q103.1 (2.9%) ranked fifth to ninth.

The rating numbers were calculated between Feb. 27 and April 23.
