You couldn't have asked for a better day for golfers to tee off for an amazing cause. Today marked the 9th annual YMCA charity golf tournament at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, with proceeds going towards the Strong Kids Campaign.

This campaign focuses on raising money for much needed resources to provide kids with the opportunity to live healthy, happier lives.

"It helps local families who maybe don't have the money to register their children in swimming lessons, childcare, any program the YMCA offers," says Rhonda Zakala, vice president of marketing and fundraising for the YMCA, "to make sure that everybody has equal access, regardless of their income."

Playing in the tournament means that you have a chance to win some pretty incredible prizes, if you can score a hole-in-one that is. Some holes have up to $25,000 cash where as others have the chance to win a new car! Players love the tournament because it means getting out on the course, for an amazing cause, plus a day of fun.

Players looking to donate money towards the YMCA, aside from their entry fee, had the opportunity to purchase live auction or 50/50 tickets. The live auction included prizes such as a men's tool package, a South Okanagan getaway, a women's package, wine packages and more!

This year the tournament was sold out, with 140 golfers teeing off today at the KGCC, and committee members are hoping to reach their goal of $60,000.

If you weren't able to play this year and you still want to donate to the YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign, to help children and teens in need become involved in community activities, click here.
