It’s official, Colin Basran will serve as Kelowna’s Mayor for the 2018-2022 term.
On Tuesday, Chief Election Officer Karen Needham formally determined the results of last weekend’s civic election that saw Basran re-elected with a total of 18,118 votes.
Joining Basran to form government are the following eight city councillors:
- Maxine DeHart (16,706 votes)
- Gail Given (16,323 votes)
- Luke Stack (15,150 votes)
- Brad Sieben (14,675 votes)
- Mohini Singh (14,586 votes)
- Charlie Hodge (14,429 votes)
- Ryan Donn (13,236 votes)
- Loyal Wooldridge (12,495 votes)
Seven of seven incumbent councillors running for re-election were successful in their bids.
Joining them in the spot vacated by Tracy Gray, who will be running in next year’s federal election, is Loyal Wooldridge.
Along with the eight councillors, four school trustees have been officially elected:
- Lee-Ann Tiede (11,542 votes)
- Norah Bowman (10,965 votes)
- Rolli Cacchioni (10,696 votes)
- Julia Fraser (9,754 votes)
The 2018-2022 term city council will be officially sworn in during a public event at the Inaugural Meeting on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Council’s first Regular Meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 19 followed by the first Public Hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
A total of 32,130 voters cast their ballots in the Oct. 20 General Local Election, equivalent to 30.41% of the 105,645 eligible electors in Kelowna.
