Another Kelowna security guard assaulted while on duty Monday morning

Kelowna RCMP are investigating an assault that occurred on the 1000-block of Sunset Drive early Monday morning.

At about 1:30 am, officers responded to the scene where a security guard had been stabbed by an unknown male suspect.

The male victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated and later released for serious but non-life threatening injuries

Frontline officers searched the area with help from the Police Dog Services Unit but were unable to locate the suspect.

However, they were able to provide a description of the suspect. He is described as a Caucasian male, 30 to 40 years of age, with a large build and standing at about 5’8”.

He was wearing a black fur-trimmed parka and carrying a backpack. No other information has been released at this time.

At the end of February a 24-year-old female security guard was also assaulted while on duty on the UBCO campus. 

She later died due to her injuries and a male suspect was apprehended under the Mental Health Act.

This investigation is also ongoing and no additional information has been released on this case.
