A new type of clinic is now open in Kelowna to try and give people better access to healthcare.

The Province’s first Pharmacy Care Clinic is open at the new Shoppers Drug Mart at 94—1030 Frost Road, a first of its kind in the Province.

The clinic initiative comes at a time where close to one million British Columbians are without a family doctor.

The clinics are slowly rolling out across Canada. The hope is that the new pharmacy clinics will help ease pressure on the healthcare system.

Shoppers, owned by Loblaws, opened its first pharmacy care clinic in Lethbridge in June of 2022. There are now more than 100 locations across the country that offer the service.

Patients can see a pharmacist at the clinic and get help with UTIs, allergies, prescription renewal and management, minor illnesses like pink eye, vaccines, testing and more.

Services are available at no cost with a valid health card, open from 10 am – 6 pm daily.
