A documentary about a Cree adoptee is being screened at Kelowna Film Studios on Oct. 1.

Because She’s Adopted follows the life of Kelowna’s Kristal Parke as she navigates the complex realities of her adoption, and this screening event will provide an early look at the film before its official release.

“This project was a journey to say the least,” Parke says. “I hope this film will yield new awareness around the topic of adoption and help adoptees to feel seen.”

Audience members will have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers behind the documentary, and DJ Haymaker will be spinning tunes to celebrate the occasion post-screening.

As this event is a memorable affair, attendees are asked to dress to impress.

Parke adds: “I am excited to share my story of relinquishment and adoption.”

Doors open at 6 pm, and everyone must be seated by 6:30 pm.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.
