(UPDATE: June 25 @ 11:40 am) – The search for Chelsea Cardno came to a tragic end on Friday, June 24 after a body was reported in a property along Mission Creek in the 3600 block of Berard Road.

On Saturday morning, the Cardno family confirmed that they have found their daughter.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we have to announce that we have found our sweet Chelsea,” reads a Facebook post from Chelsea’s mom, Diane.

“We ask for privacy in the coming days to come to terms with this great loss.”

Chelsea’s dog "JJ" is still missing. Kelowna RCMP say it is presumed he was swept away by the creek.

Diane Cardno thanked the public for their support and the “outpouring of love” since Chelsea went missing on Tuesday, June 14.

The 31-year-old was last seen leaving her home on Dougall Road South around 8am on Tuesday, June 14 and was headed to the Mission Creek Greenway to walk her dog "JJ."

“The community came together to bring my Sweet Pea home, and I will be forever grateful,” said Cardno.

Cardno finished by asking the public to continue to follow the Help us find Chelsea Cardno Facebook page for an announcement about her celebration of life in the next few weeks.

Kelowna RCMP have said that there is no criminal investigation underway and the BC Coroners Service will continue to lead the investigation.

The police thanked the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, hundreds of volunteers and the general public for their help in the search.

“We are all saddened by the outcome but hope the family can have some closure and they can begin the healing process,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, spokesperson for the Kelowna RCMP.
