UPDATE: Road reopened after boy, 14, seriously hurt in collision at Kelowna crosswalk

(UPDATE: Aug. 3 @ 5:04 am): The road has now been reopened.


(Original story: Aug. 2 @ 1:18 pm): A teenage boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision in Kelowna.

Police said the 14-year-old is in a potentially life-threatening condition.

He was hurt while walking on a crosswalk in the 1400 block of KLO Road just after 12 pm, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers, the RCMP said.

KLO Road has been closed in both directions in the area while police investigate the collision.

There is no estimated time for the road’s reopening.

The RCMP said its officers are working to determine the cause of the collision.

Witnesses, or anyone with footage of the incident, is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300 and reference file number 2021-49436.
