A woman made a startling discovery after she arrived home Thursday afternoon - a bullet was lodged into the side of her blue 2013 Nissan Sentra.

On July 12 at 4:42 p.m. Kelowna RCMP received a report of what they now believe was an act of mischief that caused damage to the woman's vehicle and had the potential to injure her.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 12 as the woman travelled northbound along Benvoulin Rd. near the intersection of Beetlestone Dr.

Police reported that the woman heard a loud bang to the passenger side of her vehicle - which she had initially assumed had been a rock thrown at her car.

When she got home, she found the remnants of the bullet in her rear, passenger-side door.

Police have not identified where the bullet originated from and have not received any information as to the location of the shooting or the gun's operator.

Kelowna RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services are now involved in the case, explained RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

“Forensic investigators have seized the bullet, since recovered from the woman’s vehicle, for examination, as they look for clues to hopefully help them identify the person who may be behind this reckless incident.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or remain anonymous by contacting CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online.
