After no cases for the first two days of the week, a second Central Okanagan public has confirmed a case of COVID-19 today.

Earlier this afternoon it was Mar Jok Elementary in West Kelowna, now it’s a member of the Rutland Senior Secondary community who has tested positive for the virus.

The exposure dates, posted on the Interior Health website, show that Nov. 23, 24 and 27 are the potential exposure dates.

The affected person is self-isolating at home with support from public health teams and IH is contact tracing to follow up with anyone potentially exposed to the confirmed case.

“The safety and well-being of students, families, and staff remains our highest priority,” said a statement from School District 23.

“Central Okanagan Public Schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible.”

Both SD23 and IH will continue to work closely together to determine if additional actions are required, as well as support the RSS community.

Students and faculty members are once again reminded to stay home from school if they show any symptoms of COVID-19.
