A sea of red and white flooded Downtown Kelowna to show their spirit on Canada Day.

Participating in the variety of family-fun activities that are decorating the boardwalk from Waterfront Park to City Park is only part of the reason everyone has gathered together.

We asked citizens sporting some of the coolest red and white attire what their favourite part of being Canadian is, and what they love about Canada Day- this is what they told us.

This family of four gained their Canadian citizenship three weeks ago! They told us that their favourite part of being in Canada is "the mountains and the donuts." Welcome to Canada!

This mom and her son are visiting Kelowna from Red Deer, Alta. When asked what their favourite part of being Canadian was, they said, "bacon!"

These Okanagan residents spent the day enjoying Downtown Kelowna. When asked what there favourite part of living in Canada was they agreed with "how beautiful it is."

"We love that everyone comes together on Canada Day," said these Canadian citizens from Germany, South America and Eastern Canada.

When asking this family why they love Canada they said, "We are proud to be Canadian. We love all the activities to do, the healthcare and education."

These ladies told NowMedia they love being Canadian because of how friendly the people are. "It's great that everyone comes together and celebrates Canada," they agreed.

This couple celebrated Canada Day in a unique way. When asked why they chose to get married on Canada Day they said, "We will always have fireworks on our anniversary!"

Like every Canada Day, the celebration concludes with a firework show on Okanagan Lake and this year's firework show was sponsored by Century 21.

When asked why they chose to sponsor this year's firework festivities, the managing partner, Anna Carbonne said, "Century 21 has always been a huge supporter of Canada Day, but this year was different because we were rebranding. We thought this year we would utilize this opportunity to celebrate Canada Day with the community and celebrate our rebranding."
