The Kelowna Fire Department rushed to a home in the 200 block of Poplar Point Drive after a car parked in the home’s driveway went up in flames.
The first arriving officer found the car on fire with flames and heat starting to impact the garage.
“Crews strategically extinguished the car fire and contained the fire from entering the structure,” said a release from the KFD.
“The fire is believed to have started from the battery area of the vehicle which had been plugged into a battery charger at the time.”
It caused some minor exterior damage to the garage.
No one was home at the time of the blaze and it was reported by a passerby.
The KFD responded with two engines, a command unit and nine personnel.
