A popular Kelowna pastor has died after struggling against liver cancer for over a year.

Sean Lalonde, a youth pastor at the Kelowna Christian Center, was told in December 2017 that he had two weeks to live.

But the 41-year-old defied all expectations, raising funds for treatment alternative treatment in Mexico.

He died in his home on May 17 surrounded by family, including his wife and five children.

Friends of Sean’s told KelownaNow he "always wanted people to do well in life” and praised his “contagious laugh”.

“He could always make any situation fun,” they added.

In tribute to Lalonde’s life, there will be a celebration held at the Kelowna Christian Center on Badke Road next week.

The May 27 event will start at 1 p.m. and anyone interested in attending is welcome to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lalonde’s GoFundMe page.
