The Gary Bennett Family Fund and its supporters recently donated $3,000 worth of President's Choice gift cards to Central Okanagan Salvation Army locations to assist in their critical food relief efforts.

Both the Kelowna Salvation Army and the Westside Salvation Army were given $1,500 worth of gift cards to be used as needed for their emergency food hamper programs, which are specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of those who are housing insecure.

“The Gary Bennett Family Fund has been an ongoing, loyal supporter of the Salvation Army’s fight against hunger,” says Lenetta Parry, the Westside community engagement manager.

“They continue to step up year over year, and we can count on their generosity at our most challenging times.”

Taking advantage of the best pricing, the gift cards will be spent at Real Canadian Superstore to purchase shelf-stable, healthy and ready-to-eat food items such as Boost, 100% fruit snacks, soup, tuna and protein bars.

“The Salvation Army could not deliver valuable programs and services on both sides of the bridge without the generosity of donors, such as The Gary Bennett Family and its supporters, who continue to come alongside us to support our mission and give hope to our community,” Parry adds.

Kelowna's location distributes approximately 400 emergency hampers per month, and the Westside location distributes about 120.

“Both the Kelowna Salvation Army and the Westside Salvation Army do an amazing job at giving so much back to our community,” Gary Bennett says.

“We know they are good stewards of our donations, and their programs and services are something we are proud to be a part of.”

Kelowna’s youth are also supported by The Gary Bennett Family Fund through the Gateway and Strive scholarships.

In addition, The Gary Bennett Family Fund provides aid to the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.

For those wanting to support the Salvation Army, donations can be made online for the Kelowna and Westside locations.
