Cherry Blossom Triathlon on Sunday means road hiccups in the Lower Mission

The Cherry Blossom Triathlon returns for another year on Sunday.

The annual event will be held in the Lower Mission, with participants swimming in the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre pool before heading outside for the bike and run portions of the race.

As a result, there will be lane closures in effect from 5 am until noon on Sunday, which include:


There will also be no left turns of Lequime Road onto Gordon Drive, the City warned, with a detour available to Cook Road.

There are also several intersections where motorists can expect minor delays between 7:15-11 am, as lights will be flashing and traffic control personnel will be directing vehicles.

Those intersections are:


Transit users should also be aware that bus stops will be closed on the east side of Gordon Drive, from DeHart Road to Casorso Road, between 7:30-11 am.

Finally, a portion of the parking lot in front of H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre will be closed to accommodate the transition area and finish line on Sunday morning.
