A new retail store will be coming to Bernard Avenue after city council gave the green light for a development permit this week.

Council approved issuing a development permit Council for a new two-storey building at 366/368 Bernard Avenue, that will include a yoga clothing store, yoga studio and a single apartment at the back of the building.

The existing building is believed to have been built in the mid-1900s and was renovated in the 1990s. The building has been vacant since December 2017 and will be demolished. A store called Soul Athletix Clothing & Yoga will replace it.

The commercial space includes a large studio area, a reception area, change rooms and a central open air patio which can be used for yoga classes.

The design of the new shop and studio is described as “modern and minimal” and will feature “large glass windows and entry doors provide a transparent front façade at the street level.”
