The KGH Foundation's Day of Giving campaign was a success, bringing in $42,500 for the upcoming youth and mental health services, Foundry Kelowna.
The campaign was a one-day event on June 1st and saw participation from young kids to seniors.
The Have-A-Heart Radiothon has been running for 11 years, but this is the first year the Radiothon became the KGH Foundation Day of Giving.
The event was a "call to action to the community to support excellence in health care for the 750,000 newborns, children, youth, adults and seniors throughout the interior of B.C.," said Shauna Nyrose with the KGH Foundation.
Nyrose hopes the event will become a yearly fundraiser.
Money was raised for Foundry Kelowna through a BBQ at KGH, but corporate donors also participated and the public was encouraged to donate via text, phone or online donation.
As far as what this donation means for Foundry Kelowna, Nyrose stated, "We get that much closer to achieving our goal of raising $2 million to open Foundry Kelowna. This gift is special because it is a consolidation of gifts from so many people in our community...Youth mental health has really affected so many of our local children and their families. So the Day of Giving allowed people to give what they could, whether that was a twoonie or thousands of dollars," said Nyrose.
Other businesses who participated include Innov8 Digital Solutions, Local realtors, Sprott Shaw and more.
