A quick and efficient response from the Kelowna Fire Department likely saved a home this morning.
The fire broke out at a residence on Barnaby Road around 3am and 18 fire personnel from the KFD rushed to the scene.
“On scene, the first arriving officer confirmed a working fire with heavy flames and smoke from the rear of the residence,” said Dennis Miller, platoon captain.
“The crews performed an offensive interior attack, which limited fire damage to the garage area of the home.”
Once the fire was out, crews checked for any extension of the fire into the home but confirmed it was limited to the garage.
No occupants were home at the time of the fire, which is not considered suspicious and is under investigation.
