An infamous eyesore along Highway 97 will soon be no more.

The former Ponderosa Motel, which has sat empty since 2011, is slated to be demolished and cleaned up within 30 days.

According to the City, conditions on the property have become "hazardous and unsafe" with four reported structure fires in the buildings that sit next to a gas station.

The property’s owner was given an ultimatum to tear down and clean up the buildings himself, or the City will do it and send the bill directly.

Since 2016, Bylaw Services has received 18 calls for service and RCMP have recorded 110 files, including 21 complaints related to trespassing, drug activity and violence.
