Most local residents have spent a night or two, or maybe 100, enjoying some beverages and a little live music at Doc Willoughby’s Public House.

Affectionately known simply as Docs, the popular spot on Bernard Avenue has been one of Kelowna’s favourite watering holes for two decades now.

On Saturday, Docs is celebrating 20 years in business in downtown Kelowna and will be inviting anyone and everyone to come by, have a drink and reminisce.

“Doc’s has employed many great people and the venue has been instrumental in introducing many couples over the years,” says Dave Willoughby, current president of Docs.

“Please come and join us to celebrate this 20th anniversary milestone!”

Docs is named after Dave’s grandfather, Doc Willoughby, who established his medical practise in the Central Interior back in 1920.

He served as a member of parliament for the Kamloops constituency between 1963-1965 and retired to the Shuswap Lake area alongside his wife Marjori.

Doc lived until he was 101 years old and had four children, which turned into 21 grandchildren and more than 30 great-grandchildren.
