A dog adoption weekend is being held at a Kelowna pet store later this month.

Paws It Forward Dog Rescue will be bringing some pooches in need of a home to Total Pet on Harvey Avenue on April 27.

Prospective adopters can play with, hug and get to know the dogs while they figure out if they’ve found their match.

Volunteers from the charity will also be on hand to discuss each pet’s needs and personality.

Total Pet, meanwhile, is selling paper PAWs in April – which is Pet Appreciation Month – and giving 100% of the proceeds to Paws It Forward.

“April is Pet Appreciation Month so each year we raise awareness of the rescue pets in our community and do something to help them,” said Ashley Snow, the store manager at Total Pet Kelowna.

“We decided to partner with Paws It Forward Dog Rescue because of the invaluable support they provide to homeless pets Canada-wide.”

Since Pet Appreciation Month started nine years ago, it has raised $8 million for Canadian welfare organizations and helped find homes for 10,200 homeless animals.

During April, Total Pet Kelowna will be selling PAWs for $2, $5 or $10.
