Another Starbucks is being proposed for Kelowna.

On Monday, June 17, Kelowna city council will consider a development permit for a Starbucks location in the Dilworth Shopping Centre.

The Starbucks would include drive-thru service and an outdoor patio situated on the corner of Highway 97 and Leckie Road where a Taco Time currently operates.

City council approved a Tim Hortons along Highway 97 in the Canadian Tire shopping complex just last week.

However, councillor Ryan Donn opposed the project due to the restaurant supporting a drive-thru in a walkable area.

If approved, the new Starbucks would become the 15th franchise location in Kelowna with the nearest location being in the Safeway located in the same parking lot.

According to a report from city planners, the Starbucks would have to be constructed within the next two years as per the issued permit.
