Long-time Kelowna resident and best selling author Jack Whyte has died.
According to the author's website, Whyte passed away Monday night at age 80 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Scotland before moving to Canada in 1967, Whyte had lived in Kelowna for over 25-years.
During that time he penned 17 best-selling books of the historical fiction genre.
He was best known for 'A Dream of Eagles', a series of historical novels set in post-Roman Britain centred around the legend of King Arthur.
The series was published in many languages, including German, French, Russian, Spanish and Portugese.
"With great sadness, we observe the passing of Jack last night at the age of 80. The world has lost a giant of character and literature and so much more. We are so fortunate that he leaves behind so much of himself in his novels and other writings," said the notice on his website.
