Today is the first indoor Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market of the season, giving residents a chance to shop for fresh veggies and locally sourced goods year-round.
Frances Callaghan, market coordinator, told NowMedia at their packed location that this year they have even more vendors to browse.
Hosted at the Parkinson Recreation Centre from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. almost every Saturday, the weekly market ensures locals can source Okanagan grown produce, protein, and more all year long.
Colder weather won’t stop the market – as a total of 51 vendors are set up inside the building and another 13 are outside, and next month Callaghan has at least 25 more vendors coming.
Callaghan says that the market is a great way to stock up on the local products that you love, while also supporting local small business and supporting Kelowna’s economy.
“You can find just about anything at the farmers’ market today,” says Callaghan.
“I think It’s about keeping the local aspect in the community,” she adds. “And it also helps the economy because everyone here is a small business.”
And it’s not hard to find great buys, with everything from fresh winter vegetables, juices, treats, soups, teas trinkets available from fellow community members.
There’s plenty of reason to come back for each market too, as they are different themed events throughout the year, including some Christmas markets.
The indoor markets will run each Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm, offering you the opportunity to #SupportLocal year-round.
