Former Kelowna resident Bob Purdy has sadly passed away after battling cancer.
Purdy was the founder of World Paddle for Planet Day, and was passionate about drawing attention to the protection of our waterways.
The announcement was made yesterday, posted to the World Paddle for the Planet Day Facebook.
“It is with a heavy heart I tell you of the passing of my dear soul brother Bob Purdy. There is so much to be said about this man, but right now I’m just sitting with my thoughts, observing the many memories and most of all feeling the peace and love that he continues to radiate from the heavens.”

Purdy did many things to promote change in the way we treat the planet, and starred in a documentary called The Paddler in 2015, where he went to the Okanagan Lake every morning with his stand up paddle board for 12 months to bring awareness to the planet.
