It’s been well over a year since Sears shut its doors at Orchard Park Shopping Mall in Kelowna.

The 38,000 sq.ft space along the mall's north east wing remains empty and managers appeared to have struggled with finding a suitable tenant.

On Monday, an alternative idea will be presented to Kelowna City Council.

Demolish the half of the former Sears space and redesign the parking layout.

According to plans submitted to city council, the remaining half would become a Mark’s Work Wearhouse clothing store.

It’s unclear whether Mark’s would be expanding or moving its current locations in Kelowna and West Kelowna.

If approved, the new plans would also include shutting off the Dilworth facing entrance and the creation of a new entrance.

Since opening 48 years ago, Orchard Park has gone under nine redevelopments.
