A beloved Kelowna bartender is currently in hospital after a bad motorcycle accident on Tuesday.

Gunzy broke both of his arms and his pelvis in the accident and is currently in an induced coma at Kelowna General Hospital.

He’s currently stable, but is about to go into surgery for his wrists.

If you’ve ordered a drink at Doc Willoughby’s over the last few years, there’s a good chance that a bearded Gunzy handed it to you with a smile on his face.

Now, the community is already rallying to support him in his time of need through a GoFundMe, created by Colin Carrier, a coworker of Gunzy’s at Docs.

“He and his son have just moved into a new place and he was working two jobs to keep the two of them comfortable,” explained Carrier.

“He’s going to be recuperating for quite awhile and he’s going to need everyone’s help.”

The fundraiser for Gunzy has currently raised around $8,500 and the donations are steadily flowing in.
