A Kelowna girl is about to begin the battle of her young life.
In July, two-year-old Kacey Gulbransen visited the hospital after experiencing some odd symptoms and her parents, Kevin and Angela, received the nightmarish news.
Kacey was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a fast spreading sarcoma that starts in the soft tissue and expands to the bones, if it spreads.
As a result, Kacey is already in Vancouver for treatment and is currently awaiting her surgery date, as doctors try to remove the tumor that’s close to her bladder.
According to Kevin, Angela and Kacey will spend the next year in Vancouver as he stays home with the couple’s two boys.
That means she’ll be leaving her career as Kacey embarks on this lengthy fight.
“She’s tough, and I know with all the love around her she’ll make it through, but it’s going to be a tough time,” said Kevin.
Lisa Kent, a family friend, has set up a GoFundMe to help the couple with any financial challenges they may face over the next number of months.
So far, the fundraiser has raised more than $4,000 towards its $5,000 goal, which includes a $1,000 donation from DunnEnzies.
