Grass fire along Mission Park Green Way handled by crews

Kelowna Fire Department crews were called into action just after 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

According to the KFD, dispatched received several 911 calls reporting a grass fire along the Mission Park Greenway between Mayer Road and K.L.O. Rd.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a large “Rank 1” grass fire approximately 15’ by 650’ long.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze using three engines, one command vehicle and two bush trucks along with 15 personnel.

Investigators did discover multiple fire sets at the scene.
