A pair of men were hospitalized after what the RCMP is calling a “group assault” at the Queensway bus loop in downtown Kelowna over the weekend.

Police arrived on the scene around 9 pm on Saturday and found two unconscious men and another man who was injured as well.

The RCMP’s investigation determined that one of the men had been assaulted by another group in the area.

The other two injured parties were hurt when they intervened to try and stop the assault.

All suspects had fled the area before police arrived, while the two 20-year-old men that were knocked unconscious were transported to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment.

RCMP officers were able to identify and locate one of the suspects shortly after midnight, at which point he was arrested without incident.

He’s since been released from custody on strict conditions for a future court date and the investigation to identify the other people involved in this assault is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
