HOPE Outreach has announced that they are expanding their service to include both men and women on the streets in Kelowna and Vernon.
Two separate teams will be serving the vulnerable populations in the two communities.
One team serves women, as the program has done for 12 years. The second will be expanded from the Narcan team to serve men’s outreach.
“We are truly ‘all in this together’ and no one should be without the basics of personal hygiene products, water, clothing and support,” said HOPE Outreach.
“As the only organization offering this program outside of the Lower Mainland, our volunteers presently see approximately 50 -60 individuals nightly in both communities and this number is growing daily.”
With opioid related deaths in the province now at staggering numbers, with 73 in the Okanagan so far this year, the team has and will continue to provide life-saving Narcan to both men and women.
However, HOPE Outreach says they can’t do it alone, and are appealing for donations.
