The future of JoeAnna’s House is in good hands following the KGH’s Heart of Gold Gala that took place last Saturday, Sept. 8.

Taking place at the future site of JoeAnna’s House, on corner of Royal Ave and Abbott St, the event raised $1.3-million in support of the home away from home for families seeking care at the KGH.

That total even surpasses the event's 2016 edition, where $1-million was raised by the KGH Foundation to benefit the hospital.

“Honestly, we are beyond thrilled,” said an emotional Sasha Carter, the KGHFoundation’s Director of Legacy Giving and this year’s master of ceremonies.

“The feeling can only be described as humbling. The generosity shown this evening is deeply moving. I’m really proud to be a part of this community.”

A beautiful "pop-up" façade was constructed for the event, that organizers say acted as a home away from home for the Gala's guest much like JoeAnna’s House promises to be for thousands of families.

“Our Heart of Gold donors have advanced this important project significantly,” said Doug Rankmore, CEO of the KGH Foundation.

“JoeAnna’s House will always depend on the generosity of donors to keep the doors open. Every gift to this beautiful home away from home will ensure that we can keep families together when they need it the most.”
