A number of frontline officers have descended upon Orchard Plaza Shopping Centre and the surrounding area.
According to the RCMP, they’re responding to a report of a “suspicious circumstance” in the area.
The investigation has required the area to be shut down, which has resulted in a number of businesses having to temporarily close.
“Police are requesting that the public stay away from the area and use alternate routes for vehicular and pedestrian travel,” the RCMP said.
It’s not known how long this police situation will be ongoing.
The RCMP said it's an unfolding situation and details are minimal at this time.
